‘AS THE SEED IS IN THE PLANT, AS THE SHADE IS IN THE TREE…’

One of the things I absolutely love about this ‘pathless Path’ of Yoga and Self Enquiry, is its fresh Aliveness! From the Yogic perspective, real understanding can only arise through direct experience. By exploring Yoga’s Seeds of Practice, we not only improve our health and wellbeing, we can also access a deeper place within ourselves – and awaken into our connection with all of Life.
A NATURAL PLACE TO START

Over time, I’ll be sharing a little more about the essential elements of Yoga – what I call the ‘Seeds of Practice’ – From Nature and embodied Asana (physical postures), through to practical Meditation, Svadhyaya (Self enquiry) and beyond…

‘AS THE SEED IS IN THE PLANT, AS THE SHADE IS IN THE TREE…’  (Kabir)

As I continue to explore the fullness of life through Yoga, something has become quite clear – from simple foundations, our Practice grows organically. The seeds of our garden (or forest!) are unique to us and our own life story… Most importantly, they are already within us, waiting for the right conditions to take root, grow and flower. The shade is already in the tree, it just needs the light of awareness to shine!

From my own experience, as we begin to dive deeper into the heart of Yoga, these Seeds of Practice naturally establish themselves! An open, sincere, enquiring heart (and mind), as well as a gentle, patient dedication, provide fertile ground for growth. With Grace and trust, the rest slowly unfolds…

Over the years, my own Practice (Sadhana) has arisen out of structure and spontaneity – Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama, Bhakti, and reading and exploring the wisdom teachings of India and the East. For me, inspiration and insights arise from Nature Herself (Shakti), spending precious time with my Dear Ones, and the universal Truths of Yogic philosophy (non-dual Tantra and Advaita, through to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Yoga Spandakarika… and beyond). The essence of the Buddha’s Dharma and the practice of simple Mindfulness, also strikes the clear bell of awareness. While the experiential poetry and wisdom of the mystics deeply resonates, opening the heart…

Ultimately, all of these teachings point to the inherent Sweetness of Life!

Yoga is Alive. An ever-flowering, unfolding practice… In time, with sincerity, guidance, acceptance and love, we begin to access a deeper place within ourselves – and awaken into our connection with all of Life.

As the Sufi poet Rumi said:
‘Put seeds and cover them.
Blades will sprout
where you do your work.’
